The Sandra Zink Memorial Scholarship has been started thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. The fund is being supported by a partnership between The Galena Federation of Teachers and The Community Foundation of Jo Daviess County.
The Sandra Zink Memorial Scholarship honors Ms. Zink’s dedication and commitment to teaching the Sciences at the Galena High School and her years of dedicated service, helping her students not only in the Sciences but also in their everyday lives. Ms. Zink loved and helped her students in and out of the classroom.
A $5,000 gift to the Community Foundation of Jo Daviess County from an anonymous donor helped launch the fund which will provide scholarships to students graduating from Galena Highschool with an interest in pursuing the sciences or education fields.
The Galena Federation of Teachers has started a campaign to match the anonymous gift.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of our colleague and honored to honor Ms. Zink through a scholarship that carries on her love for helping students” said Federation Mary Calfee, Treasurer.
“We hope the community will join us in celebrating Ms. Zink’s love of teaching and her students by making a gift to The Sandra Zink Memorial Scholarship.”

Box 77, Elizabeth, IL 61028. Gifts can also be made in person at First Community Bank of Galena and Apple River State Bank in Elizabeth.
