Every day, people in our County struggle to access the food they need. Over the past year we've all seen countless examples of people waiting in line for food, and even filling stadium parking lots, just to get food.
According to 2018 data from Feeding America, nearly 2,000 people in our County struggle with food insecurity. Food insecurity is defined by the USDA as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life.
The Community Foundation of Jo Daviess County is launching a project to help address hunger in our County. The Food Insecurity Project will engage with the people and programs who work to provide food for people in need, local leaders, and community members. We'll work together to learn what is working, where there are unmet needs, and how to help more people have the food they need. You can help.
Watch for events and get involved or make a donation to help address food insecurity in our County.
