Thanks to a grant from the CTE Academy Foundation Fund, held at the Community Foundation of Jo Daviess County, students at the CTE Academy in Elizabeth now have access to a state-of-the-art Apex Officer Virtual Reality (VR) System.
This immersive simulator provides students - and law enforcement officers - with training experiences that closely mirror real-world scenarios. The VR system enhances students' understanding of law enforcement principles by bringing textbook knowledge to life, helping them develop confidence and readiness in high-pressure situations.
Beyond the classroom, the Apex Officer system also benefits local police departments, creating a valuable shared resource that fosters partnerships between area law enforcement and the CTE Academy.
The CTE Academy offers hands-on technical training to high school students across Jo Daviess County in fields such as Automotive Technology, Education, Modern Technology & Electronics, Construction Trades, Graphic Communications, Health Occupations, and Law Enforcement & Criminal Justice. With tools like the Apex VR System, students are better equipped for careers that directly impact the safety and strength of our communities.
